Can I trade news?
The table below outlines trade restrictions for Vantage Elite Traders during specific economic reports. Traders with funded accounts are prohibited from opening or closing trades on targeted instruments 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after the news announcement. This includes placing or closing pending orders (such as stop loss or take profit) or market orders. However, trades opened more than 2 minutes before the news event may be held during the restricted period.
If your stop loss or take profit is triggered within 2 minutes before or after the news release, it may be considered a violation of the Vantage Elite Account Agreement.
You can still trade non-targeted instruments during news events. For example, EURGBP and AUDNZD can be traded during the US NFP release, but avoid opening or closing USDJPY or GBPUSD during the restricted 2-minute window.
